Be Brave! Be Strong!

As soon as we get in the car these days, the boys must listen to their new favorite song from their Kids at Brookside CD.
“Be Brave. Be Strong.
Have hope to carry on.
Chapter 3 verse 6 of Hebrews tell us
Jesus love us and makes us one.
Oh, we are the people of God,
And we know who’s in charge,
He is Christ the Lord.”

It really is the cutest thing to hear from the front seat. The creative articulation, the off-key notes, the “no, I sing…” reminding me of the days when I used to sing from the back seat as a kid, but more importantly reminding me who is in charge and how the innocence of child is so endearing!

This weekend we participated in the first Heart Heroes Super Run! We got our Super-Man shirts out to support, Team Edward.

The boys were really excited about the event. VW has wanted to participate in an event with me since I did the mud run. And DG just proudly exclaimed, Team Edward.

We checked out Optimus Prime before the race. DG less concerned about the massive robot alien than VW, who needed some loving coaxing for a high five.

Mom and the boys strike their super hero pose.
And the race begins...or the walk and occasional run.
And then you begin to think...all these people, all these adorable kiddos, most impacted in some way by either having their own personal experience or knowing someone that was born with a congential heart defect.
How in days of trial, the unknown, all you may have is the hope to carry on...
To be brave and be strong...
And to follow His path, knowing we are the people of God and He alone is in charge.

And we finish this simple race in celebration for those that fought the fight and won,
who had hope and faith in God to carry on...

"For we are the people of God, and who's in charge it is Christ the Lord. Oh, we are the people of God...Jesus loves us and makes us one"

"Be brave! Be Strong!"
Hebrews 3:6
6 But Christ is the Son in charge of God’s people.
And we are those people, if we keep on being brave and don’t lose hope.
