What's Up?

This year I thought I would do a month review to treasure a few of the accomplishments, challenges, what we are learning and saying, and how life is going (so I don't forget, you both are growing so fast)!

AND, I already missed January, so thought I would start in February! Better late then never (and January is already a blur, I better get typing before this moment passes by ever so quickly.

How You're Growing
VW - I think you have grown at least 2 inches since Thanksgiving! Good thing Cousin NR is growing too, because your high waters are much to high and hand-me-downs are the best! Daddy teases you often that we put bricks on your head at night to stop you from growing. You don't buy and keep growing anyway! You are starting to gain a little weight on your tall, lean body: 39 lbs.

DG - as usual, you are trying your best to keep up with your brother! I already hauled out the 3T/4T clothes your brother wore the fall he was 3 or last year!! Your not quite as stocky as you were as a baby but you still weigh close to your brother:

What You're Reading
I think we read the same two books every night this month. Both books by David Shannon: The Rain Came Down and Too Many Toys.

VW has Too Many Toys memorized and loves to beat me through the pages. Or does his best to watch my mouth form the words, so he can guess what is next. I often remind the boys how blessed they are with their abundance of toys and inquire when we will clean up their train of toys.

DG loves The Rain Came Dow, barking yowling, and honking right along. Always insist that I be loud, even when the rain has stopped and the rainbow fills the sky.

Sometimes we sneak one more fav in: The Ice Cream King! Who doesn't love themselves a great ice cream book!?! Plus, this one is great, as the morale of the story is, never eat ice cream alone!

What You're Saying
DG - you have quite the array of stories and sayings. Often we are quite amazed of what comes out of your mouth. Some are more precious than ever and others you can move on with already. For example, we love how you say "o-tah" and you rarely miss a "tank you" but often miss the please. When you do tell your elaborate stories, with a tip of your head and "cuz" we know you have lots to say, "cuz." What we are done hearing is, "My Mommy told me," "My Daddy told me", or you even try "My Brother told me." Its not working, Bubba, so move on!

While reading a book, DG asked a question and I responded "mm-uh" and he said say "yay" and I responded, "I did." He looked at me fervently and said, "no, you say mm-uh, say yay!"

VW - you are always talking, really you spare nothing in the story telling area...

Did You Just Do That?
A fav chuckle, shake of our head moment with DG this month occurred when he was telling us one of "his stories." Nana looked to Daddy and says, "how old is?" He responds in the background, "Five." Oh, really five? "Yep, I pretend I'm five." Got it Bubba! You are already growing to fast...slow down!

P-E-A-C-E

Life has had us on the go.

Daddy has been working long weeks by adding in a Saturday work day!

We've seem to be having more evening activities with D6, small group,  Kindergarten school planning, Mommy training for the half marathon...

AND the boys playing hard, rough, wild and crazy..dancing, laughing, racing, kicking, chasing, webbing, sword swiping...

Appropriately so for a five- and 2-year-olds, but its exhausting!

Done refereeing, done threatening, done "watch out for the wall...the bricks...", "be careful, that is his head!" It really is an equal fight...sometimes DG is even in the lead!
Seriously glad they have so much fun together... *sigh* just need to come to the realization that this is life with boys and I would NOT want it any other way! LIFE IS GOOD!

And then...you tiptoe into their room for one final kiss good night, to turn off the fish tank light, to pull up the covers and find this...

PEACE!

The quiet breathe, the all out relaxed state of comfort...a kiss on these sweet, innocent boys foreheads, a prayer lifted up for guidance as parents and protection for the boys as they seek to know Him. Life is good! Can it seriously get any better than this!?! Love you boys with all my heart!

V is for Volcano!

1/26 - VW is back in full force! He has smiled his way back into the room, checking things out and ready to rumble at any opportunity. Fortunately, no opportunity arose!

1/27 - VW had a great Monday!

1/28 - VW had issues listening to me and following directions, which landed him in time-out a few times today!

1/29 - VW had a mostly good day. One time-out for talking and "singing" when I asked the class to be quiet. He says he did hear me. Coach gave him a stamp on each elbow. Life is wonderful.

2/4 - Our water froze but the rest of the project will have to wait until tomorrow. His journal work was done in a hurry. It was done correctly.

2/5 - VW had a VW day but did not get a time-out! The group was small enough to give personal space to everyone.

2/6 - VW was very outspoken today. He did have fun and he played nicely, but his mouth was out of control. Oops!

2/7 - VW had a great "N" show-and-tell. The boys looked like they were having fun [Picture of Cousin NR and VW playing mini-golf]. VW had a good day in spite of his injury! [black eye]

2/10 - We had a crazy day and VW was a crazy guy! I say that lovingly!

2/11 - VW had his ups and downs as usual. He enjoyed the day and the activities and smiled his way through the ups and downs.

2/12 - VW was in a loud mood, but had a good day. The Happy Feet coach said he was excellent!

2/13 - VW was very busy and finished his project! Of course, he played in cars and did all the other fun stuff too!

2/14 - VW had a wonderful, fun day!

2/17 - VW had his ups and downs today. Or rather I had my ups and downs with VW. He had fun all day long! Had a rough time during nap time staying quiet.

2/19 - Today was a rerun for VW. He listened, he talked a lot, he bossed, he did nice work, and he played around. He also helped and had a good day at Happy Feet.

2/20 - VW had a good day. The story teller came and brightened our day. Landon brought birthday cupcake. Joy oh joy!

2/21 - VWs Veggie Tales movie was cute. The Gated Community song had me in stitches! VWs balancing skills were put to the test and he passed in flying colors.

Sunday Afternoons

Daddy goes to the gym and the boys run around like super hero ninjas when they should be having rest time (which lasted maybe 30 minutes)! The giggles are precious but Mommy's break is non-existent.

Mommy goes to the gym (she needs a break), takes VW with her and Daddy gets cuddle time with DG for an hour! Now that is some precious snuggle time for Daddy!

Go figures for Mommy! Glad you got a great Sunday afternoon nap, DG!

Brotherly Love & Relaxin'

Mommy and Daddy are dreaming of spring...and taking the plunge and getting a new patio retreat in the backyard! Can't have a relaxing retreat without someplace to rest your feet, so off to check out the goods!

The boys hang in there okay while being drug to furniture stores. Don't feel too bad for them, they sure do know how to have some fun! (And so does everyone else in the store!)

Tic-Tac-Toe

A few drinks and Mexican for mom and dad. And a fun game of Tic-Tac-Toe for DG. Looks like he is really getting into it with his micheavous smile, like he can "play" his Daddy!

Aww...Mom!

One of those weeks, when you send your son to school in his sporty, super hero, "all-boy" clothes and he returns to you in this...

Sorry DG! Mom obviously forgot you didn't have extra clothes at school for the rare accident you have! Glad you were able to wear this in style!

P.S. You now have enough clothes at buddies for a week. Lesson learned!

Up Instead of Down

DGs smiles, love, hugs and kisses really melt this mommy's heart. He has always had this look he can give you that is tender, sweet and innocent. The tip of the head, the look up at you, sparkle in his eyes, love!

This particular afternoon, he was into performing for the camera, looking up instead of down, so excited he could touch the ceiling, and laughing with pure joy. Giggling, talking, peaking, talking, performing. Thanks for all the joy, giggles and love. Even when mommy wants to see her amazing eyes and not up your nose!
