Get Out the Sprinkler

The weather was starting to get hot and the weekend long. The nerves of boys on parents at a high and the exhaustion of boys very apparent. Only means it is time to get out the sprinkler!

Boys got on their swimsuits with no arguing and/or assistance. Mom and Dad each got a cold one and planted themselves in the shade of the patio. Mom grabbed her camera to capture the sprinkler fun...

DG informing us that VW peed over there...
"it was an accident."

The Miler

After 3-months of moms training for the half marthon and VW asking when he would get to run with me, the big day arrived. We participated in the Memorial Day Run at Boys Town by waking up early and running 1 mile.

After a fun birthday party and crazy day on Sunday, I had to literally carry VW out of his bed to get ready for the big race. Still a  little sleepy on our way there, but we had lots of questions!

Picked up our packets and placed our timers on our shoes.

DG - Thanks for the Reminder

In October when I uploaded these adorable, priceless pictures of DG being DG, I am sure I was going to write a sweet description of how he melts my heart and how I love the way he plays so innocently, how he is always going on adventures ("is your trip for business or pleasure?") but not without giving me his tight bear hug and puckered lipped kiss. However life happened and I never typed up a story or detailed description describing the wonderful memories of these days and moments.

So today when I opened up this file and once again saw his sweet smile and big eyes peering at me, my heart fluttered and I forget (momentarily) that last night he screamed at me (I MEAN SCREAMED), he hit me, and he told me "No Mommy!" and I remind myself that some moments we shine and other moments we don't but with God's guidance and help, we are molding these precious little boys to be Godly men. And he really is my little, sweet, innocent guy who I just want to pick up, squeeze close and never let go...but I guess we are expanding our wings and growing up (at least for a 3-year-old).

Love you with all my heart and give me patience for the next "adventurous trip" in our lives.

God Is With Me!

Mother's Day started with a major down pour as we headed out for church. The forecast indicated that if the sun comes out and the afternoon warms up, the storms will come.

As the sun started to shine brightly and warm and dry our morning showers...we waited.

Then in the late afternoon skies...these clouds appeared.

The sirens started blarring, DG started crying "no tornado" and VW said "tornado" as many times as he could while he stood 2 feet from the TV to watch the weather.

We grabbed our gear and headed to the basement for some fun. Glarring at VW to be quiet and calming DG, who all of sudden decided he didn't like storms. The storms passed with some heavy rains and wind. The most precious part of the evening and the melt of my heart...was seeing DG sit in his bean bag repeating "God is With Me. God is With Me."

Yes, buddy, God is always with us and protects us no matter what. God is good.

Me and My Boys

I had a great day with my family for Mother's Day! Had a favorite breakfast of French Toast and fruit, relaxed, photo op with the boys, and then I did things around the house that I would typically feel "guilty" for because I dislike feeling like I am taking precious itme away from the boys.

The day was refreshing and wonderful. Definitely felt the love...but I really do every day!

Mum's Tea

Wonderful afternoon tea on the Friday with my boys at buddies. They are so adotable how excited they are to have you join them at school.

No matter how hard I try, I still am unable to be in two places at once, so I brought DG with me to his big brothers room (which he loves) for quite the treat. VW served me cookies and lemonade, we were serenaded, delivered "made with love" gifts and enlightened by the rambunctious natural of five-year-olds.

Nap is His Undoing

Old one - VW is having his first and only TIme Out right now. Whispering is too much of a challenge. Otherwise he had a great day!

April 10 - VW had a good day! The Story Teller was here for 45 minutes. Journal work and quick walk filled the rest of our morning schedule.

April 14 - The class given bubbles and a bug Easter egg with candy inside. It's their reward for a well done performance on Friday!

April 16 - VW enjoyed dying eggs and his Easter bag is awesome! The coach gave him two stars for good behavior.

April 18 - VW had a great day! Watching him hunt for eggs was cute. Then he hid eggs for a friend. Oh was he good! We watched an Easter DVD. He can bring Busy Town back next week.

April 21 - Thought I spent a brief amount of time with VW, he had a normal VW day. He talked, talked, and talked! :)

Top 10% - I did it!

New Year’s Eve a friend, KR, sent out a request to a group of her friends inquiring if they would like to sign up with her to run in the Lincoln Half-Marathon. I looked at Daddy and said "I think I'm gonna do it."

So, for the first time in many years we stayed up past midnight on New Year’s Eve and I tried over and over to finally get in the website and register myself for my first half marathon. (It was sold out the next day with 12,500 runners!)

Now what to do and what did I agree to! AHHH!

Mommy did enjoy running in high school, but had never ran 13.1 miles! The most I had ever run was 5 miles and that was a long time ago. I reached out to friends for advice and became a follower of Hal Higon's Training Program.

Hal informed me that "couch potatoes my not have sore muscles, but they have many other ailments." Or "Runners are intelligent. Be smart. Train well. Relax and find your pace."

My first 3-mile run took me a half hour, an average pace of 10:30. It was a start and provided a great baseline for Mommy. Then my focus, thought-process and dedication came in...with the support from Daddy, the excitement of you boys, and family and close friends, the training continued, the miles were quicker and longer, and the sense of accomplishment grew! I can do this!

It wasn't easy. I had to figure out what to eat to maintain a healthy run. I had to figure out what my body and mostly my thoughts could handle. But I knew I could do it!

And Daddy, family and friends also believed in me...prayed for me and encouraged me!

Lake Z, my training grounds. Rockin' my vintage Oakley's.

Round-Up

This morning was the big day! VW got to go to Kindergarten Round-up! He was so excited!

We stood in line for his name tag and got a great smile and hello from the Principal. (Her son is on VWs baseball team!)

He hesitantly peaked around the parents, siblings, and classmates to find Ms. P.

He bravely came back, gave me a hug and kiss and went on his way!

He was super excited to make a new friend, Max. Who is tall and blonde, just like him!

They sang songs, did artwork, planted a flower, went outside for recess...so much fun!

So excited and proud of him as he begins another journey in his life this Fall!

He also got a Lucky Charms treat! I think his teachers and school are excited too!

This special treat is to remind you that we are glad you are in Preprimary Montessori! Before you eat your treat have someone read this list to you. Search the bag for the marshmallow shapes hidden inside!

You should find:
A YELLOW STAR – to remind you to always shine!
A POT OF GOLD – to remind you that you’re worth a million!
A COLORFUL RAINBOW – to remind you to promise to always do your best!
A BLUE MOON – to remind you that once in a while, we all make mistakes, and that’s okay!
A GREEN CLOVER – to give you good luck as you begin Kindergarten!
A PURPLE HORSE SHOE – to remind you that U matter!
A RED BALLOON – to remind you to soar above all the clouds and try new things!
And most of all, a PINK HEART to remind you that we care about you in Preprimary Montessori!!
