Taking Over

School happenings...

9/16/13 – VW was very vocal today. But his day went well. He sat nicely in Chapel and played nicely in Centers. Spray painting went quickly, was messing and the finished product is awesome! (Thanks for the snack goodies this week!)

9/17/13 - VW lost his tooth while brushing his teeth. I picked it out of the sink and put it in a Ziploc and the tooth fairy can do her magic. He spent 10 minutes explaining how he’ll eat without it.

9/18/13 - VW took a great picture, though he was with his brother and I didn't see it myself. He worked hard to find family members for his project. He did a great job at Happy Feet (soccer), too!

9/19/13 – VW was overly energetic this morning. I’m out of breath from telling him to sit down. The story teller came today. I’ve been hearing Chick-a, Chick-a BOOM BOOM of and on this morning.
9/20/13 – The picture VW brought for show and tell is awesome. We were told Bailey likes to play fetch! I am not surprised!

9/23/13 – VW had a fun day. He plans on taking over the class now that he has my routine down. He just forgets who is in charge. After a very vocal morning, he is quiet on his cot!

9/24/13 – VW has no stop button for his voice! He had a good day and used his time wisely and had something to say every minute! (Don’t get me wrong, he doesn’t bother me as much as it may sound !)

9/26/13 – VW had a spot reserved by the cupboards today [time-out]. His noise and loud talking became overwhelming. He did nice work and roped cattle (the mailbox) with good form.

9/27/13 - VW rode ponies with DG so I didn't see the excitment as he rode. I do know he checked his watch, and mine, every 10 minutes until the event took place. I know he had fun!

Giddy Up...Tigger & Zipper

It's that time of year...River City Round Up. My urban cowboys get all decked out for some pony rides at buddies. What an exciting time!

Captured a few pictures in our cowboy plaid shirts...Mommy is going to need to get herself some plaid too.

This was DGs first year. He sat so nicely with his class and was so excited to see me visit.

VW is a pro at these rides and they patiently wait for their turn. This year the boys had a special break-out for just the two of them to ride (I think it was just more of a nice convenience for mom from the director...DG class was first and VWs class last).

Ride on cowboy. VWs pony was Tigger and DGs was zipper. They had the whole time to themselves. Neither one of them could stop grinning!

Something is Missing

A couple months ago older cousin NR starting loosing his teeth. VW was so excited and started telling us his teeth were loose too! Nope, sorry buddy, you still have some strong baby teeth in there!

Then a couple weeks ago he became very adament with us that he had a loose tooth, how hard it was to eat, and how it hurt to brush his teeth.

Sure enough, he was right. He has one crazy loose tooth! Last night at the dinner table we encouraged and demonstrated how to pull that wobbly tooth out, but to no avail.

Next morning he headed to school with warm hugs and kisses. When I picked him up, he had the biggest, gapping hole smile for me! His tooth was gone! While brushing his teeth after lunch and before nap, it fell out! Thank goodness Ms. Susan snatched it out of the sink!

We called Aunt M and Cousin NR to come over to check it! He was so proud!

The next morning at breakfast, I asked VW if he had a visit from the tooth fairy. He checked in his mouth and his tooth was still missing. "Nope, still gone!" [obviously mom and dad didn't explain that very well...and we brought him to his room to find some cash under his pillow!]

Goofin' Around

How come the first immediate reaction when your mom says, "give me your silly face" your tongue sticks out? Captured the boys over the Labor Day weekend (which we spent the entire weekend outdoors), having fun and goofin' around. Boy do these brothers love each other..from the mimicking to the wrestling to the horsey to just being them!

New Teacher with New Stories

VWs new Preschool teacher, Ms. Susan, provides us with great stories of the adventures of the day. We appreciate the perspective she provides while VW is away during the day.

VWs first couple weeks with Ms. Susan:

8/21 - VW has made himself right at home, taking part in all activities. Plus, he never lacks for anything to say. We should have a fun year.

8/22 - VW had a loud, active and yes, great day. He told me all about his picture on the mural and was very proud [the bulletin board mural in the classroom].

8/23 - VW had a good day. His DVD [Tom & Jerry in Space] was awesome to watch and VW gave us a deep explanation off and on through the morning.

8/26 - VW had a mostly good day. He got a bit carried away cleaning up block center by throwing Legos. One Time-Out and he calmed down nicely. Five minutes of running the front stairs didn't hurt either!

8/28 - VW had a good day. He enjoyed our project and our classwork (especially the hidden picture pages). He was very helpful today. It was a challenge walking in the hall so he tended to end up last in line. Oops!

8/29 - VW had a good day doing his work and playing in Centers. He never lacks for things to talk about, that's for sure.

9/3 - VW had a silly, but good day. He loves to talk about everything, its hard to turn off the creative brain! He so enjoyed wearing he P.J.s.

9/4 - VW had a mostly good day. He kicked a friend during a dance activity (and it wasn't and accident). Otherwise he has been on good behavior with lots of enthusiasm.

9/5 - VW had a great day. He has no one to get in trouble with now that Brandtley is in Kindergarten. VW enjoys being BMOC. His classwork looks good today.

9/6 - VWs light up glass was awesome. It was easy to see the green flashing. He had a good day. We had a nice chat about cousin family matters. No secrets were given away.

9/9 - I am convinced VW plans on being a stand-up comedian. He quickly colored red in his workbook. He wrote the word red and drew with red. He's pretty tired of red today. He had a mostly good day.

9/10 - VW is doing well in writing letters. Today we worked on the color yellow. Plus, we planted grass seed. Now we'll watch to see how tall it will grow! He had a good day.

9/11 - VW has been telling me about going to Oklahoma. In fact, every mom and dad knows you are going to Oklahoma. He had a good day and we were very busy.

9/12 - Oh my, VW was very animated and loud today! He told me Dad told him he had to take a nap. He has settled down and is asleep on his cot. VW is snack helper next week. Have a fun and safe trip.

Never Let Go

Overwhelmed with security and rest we have in the sheer grace of God.

How I am not a child of God because of my initiative or my accomplishments or something I have done to "earn" it, but before I was born God pursued me, called me, He knew me by name. How His grace is necessary, as I yearn to seek Him out, longing to have a relationship with God and the security of knowing the no one can snatch me from God's hand (John 10: 27-29) as I confess my sins and seek forgives, His grace is sufficient. When I put my trust in Him as my Savior, I am His forever.

How as a child, my earthly father would hold my hand tight when crossing the street or while hanging out the window of our three-story house to hang Christmas lights. Or the time I jumped to him off the roof to where he stood on the deck, as he says "trust me..." my small hand in his large hand provided the security that seemed like it would be impossible to let go.

And now as a mother I grasp on my boys hands, I hold them close, doing all that I can to never let go, to provide security and safety.

But in reality, it is in the unfailing grasp of my Heavenly Father that provides the security and comfort, the promise of eternity.

May we confess our sins, trust in His son. May we be filled with the same grace for others and remain His child forever.

This Is How We Roll

After a hot walk in this sweltering heat, it was time to cool off with popsicles. Nothing like enjoying your popsicles melting down your arms well riding your three-wheeler.

Sneakin' Around

I caught the boys at bedtime sneaking in one last game on the iPad. The glow of the light illuminating their concentrating faces. It was too cute watching DG look over his big brothers shoulders as VW tried to win the big car race. Captured a few pictures before Mommy took the game away and implemented bed time!

Hey, wait a minute, when did Daddy
sneak in to join in the fun?

Go Red

We were very honored to have the opportunity to head the Lincoln to watch the Huskers play yesterday. Although our family knows that we are not the Huskers #1 fans with the rest of the state, who doesn't like some good college rivarly. Thank goodness friends had no problem loaning us shirts.

Boy were we treated well. Our first game was in a suite with dear friends from church, PR and KR. They also invited the pastor of our church, so fun to hang out with them and see their hearts and passion for God outside of the church...living life. We had amazing tailgating food both outside the stadium and in the suite. And an amazing view. It was fun game and great time with friends.
