Take Me Out to the Ball Game

VW has been so excited to have his first baseball game. After having his first practice in the 40s and talking non-stop about his 15 minutes of playing catch before the boys couldn't feel their fingers, it was officially time for the real thing!

Headed out to the out field for some warm-up catch with his friend, Tanner. Tanner is from buddies and was in Kindergarten this year, they were so excited to re-connect!

First time at bat...home run (well, actually great hit passed the short stop, but when you hit last in the batting order, you run all the bases...home run)!

Although its a side shot, you can see this little guy is beaming! So thrilled to be playing!

Coach Cory sends them out to the in-field for play.

VW played left one inning and third another inning. He did really well in both positions.

Great first game boys. Each one hit well and there wasn't too much fighting over the ball. Daddy did a great job getting the boys in hitting order and maintained some order in the dug-out. I think it will be a fun season.

VW exclaimed, "I've been to baseball games, but I've never been in my own baseball game!"

We ended with a Daddy baseball tradition...some ice cream as DQ. What a fun day!

Jesus is Alive

VW is was extremely excited for his Easter program this year, even though he informed me multiple times that they were going to do the same program he did last year.

This was his last program of his preschool years and always quite the show.

We can't end the fun program without a photo-op with Anna.
These two have been together since they were babies!

Final smile and pose with their favorite
teacher, Ms. Susan!

On My Knees

There comes a time in life when the illusion of control disappears and we become a people of prayer.

Prayer can be our “secret weapon,” if you will, for it should be:
1) intentional, provides direction and an opportunity to refocus

35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” 38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” – Mark 1: 35-38
2) impactful, my prayers make a difference
16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16
3) humbling, for God opposes the proud and provides grace to the humble, “Lord, I need your help”
34 He mocks proud mockers but show favor to the humble and oppress - Proverbs 3:34
As we watch our boys grow both physically, emotionally, and spiritually, being a prayer warrior pulls at my heart strings. We can make a difference in our boys life as we pray for them. And the importance of a consistent prayer life for our boys to truly know the Lord and understand they can do anything through His grace and mercy.

Prayers for VW and DG
1)    To Really Know God – To have a relationship with Him
a.     John 17:3 - 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
2)    Themes God reveals from His Word
a.     Pray for the boys regarding what I am reading in the word – to be humble, to be men of character
b.     Phil – love may abound, discern what is best, fruit of righteous

3)    Protection against the lies of Satin
a.     The enemy is real, protect my boys
b.     John 8:44 - 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

4)    May they see themselves as God sees them
a.     Psalm 139:14 - 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
b.     Dream BIG boys – have the courage to pursue them

5)    See God as He is
a.     When we look at the sunset or feel the rain drops on our faces, may you know that God is your creator
b.     He is Holy, Just
c.     He will do the right thing – justice will prevail
d.     God is Love

6)    Their friends (and future wife) relationship with Christ
a.     From the day you were born, I have prayed for your friendships and the amazing women you will marry someday.
b.     I pray that God is making a difference in their lives, that we are aware of how we can impact relationships, how we can make a difference.

So, I am down on my knees for you two (and your Daddy and me as we provide a spiritual foundation for you) and we pray for “when we pray, we are humbling ourselves before God and saying, “I need Your presence and Your power, Lord. I can’t do this without You.” When we don’t pray, it’s like saying we have no need of anything outside of ourselves.” The Power of Praying Parent – Stormie Omartian

It's All Good!

How You're Growing?

VW - You are growing up so much. This month we headed to the Millard School to visit the hearing specialist. You were hestiate to enter the metal, space-like box, but you did! You repeated the words you heard...hot dog,watermelon...then raised your hand proudly with each *beep.*  Those masive headphones squashed your hears closing your ear canals so in went some hearing buds...and you passed with flying colors. It's official...your ears are ready for Kindergarten.

DG - We were not quite sure what to do with you this month. Boy you tore out Mommy's and Daddy's heart strings and we had lots of conversations if we were making the right choices. You see, you seemed to have a tummy che all month. This is a hard one, cuz that tummy almost only seemed to hurt at buddies. So did you just want to be home with your family or did something change there? Quite the conundrum! Finally we decided to eliminate the physcial and headed to Dr. M. Your tummy was just fine, whew! So extra love and yogurt "to make the tummy all better" (advice from doc) and you seemed to figure out that everything was okay.

What You're Reading?

Once again DG pulled out the same books to read every night this month. It is really cute, cuz he gets really good at reading them!  Plus who doesn't them a good jingle! The Wheels on the Bus go round n round!

Now this Pete the Cat gets himself into all colorful situations, but the moral of the story is priceless...no matter what life brings you or what you step in...it's all good.

Finally a good camping story with Just Me and My Dad brings quite the adventure with fish stories, bears, and campfire scares...but its all okay when it's just me and my dad.

What You're Saying?

VWs excitment this month at swimming lessons has been priceless, since he used to cry the whole time and never get in the water. This month he exclaimed, "It's incredible Mom, I touched the bottom," beaming ear to ear!

DGs babbling, mumbo-jumbo finishing with "cuz I'm a MAN!"

Did You Just Do That?

Super proud of VW this month as he continues to grow in his independence. It is fun to watch him grow. One our fav realizations this month has been to be excited about meeting up with his friends at church. From gripped legs and tears to see ya later, Mom. Love to see experience your growth and comfort...

Today is Your Day!

The month of February was dedicated to Dr. Seuss at buddies. Lots of great Dr. Seuss books were read and enjoyed and the amount of amazing art projects displayed was tremendous. While, parents were constantly reminded about a dress-up day at the end of the month, that this mom only thought about casually. Then two days before the big event VW inquired excitedly, "what am I going to dress up as?" "Ummm..." is not the right response. A quick search on Pinterest, a trip to the second-hand store, fabric store and party supply store, I had it...nothing better than dressing up like Thing 1 and Thing 2 with your little brother.

Boy did these two thrive, giggle and make Thing 1 and Thing 2 too close to reality! Words can not describe the events of the morning, but pictures are priceless!

And one final snapshot with VWs friends.
Our boys are so amazing and I love the way the interact with each other, even when it as rambunctious as Thing 1 and Thing 2, because why fit in when you born to stand out? For you two have brains in your head and feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So...get on your way!
