Only Done in DG Style

DG sure got the hang of his motorcycle in no time...with his no holds bar attitude and enjoyment of life...

This Mom is already holding her breathe, but laughing with him as he is having so much fun! Aunt M and I both gasped the first time when he got to the top of the driveway picked up his feet and rolled...FAST...he wobbled, steadied himself and went back for more! (Reminds Aunt M so much of Cousin NR and gives me some enlightenment of what's in store).

First question of the morning..."where's my motorcycle?" I see many walks, rides, successes and falls ahead of us this summer!

Vroom...into Three

What a wonderful weekend with grandparents in town to celebrate DGs thrid birthday! He was so excited and insistent on being able to ride a motorcycle! We've been talking about having a motorcycle party for weeks now, but not sure he grasped that this was the "theme" and not something to ride. Even when we went to the store to get the decor and fun plates, he clarified "I ride motorcycle?"

Well, the day finally arrived and while Nana entertained Grandma and I worked on the "3" motorcycle track cake. I pulled out the mini-motorcycles and DG was ready to ride. Woah buddy...your excitment is contagious! (and your a little big for these minis).

Sunday was the big party day with lots of yummy food (daddy made us pulled pork sandwiches and Grandma and Nana provided the sides) and lots of presents!

Loved the inserts to his sandals.

Ready to play in the dirt...loves to dig!

And water his plants...
or spray his brother with his water gun!

Better have a helmet for ridin' down the road.

A Nerf gun...a hit by all, even the dad's and papa's!

Aunt K designed DG a motorcyle shirt!
In LOVE...PURE JOY!

Add a Ninja sweatshirt..loved..
even Cousin IM wants one!

All set on his motorcycle!

Time to try it out for real...
helmet-check
sandals-check
garden gloves-check

Dig in the garden or scratch your pups back...

Enjoying his admirers singing "Happy Birthday"

Proud Big Brother..."ANY MANY MORE!"

Things are Changing with a Pop of Color

During the Easter season and the warmth of spring (at least some days), we are reminded of the opportunities for growth and change. Truly love this season and the reminder that seasons come and go...'this too shall pass' or s'low down, I don't want to miss this'.

One fun reminder of change is when we color eggs for Easter. Although we didn't get to connect with our cousins this year, the boys were ecstatic about coloring eggs.

It takes some pretty deep focus and concentration to change.

Immersed in change...the goal was to soak as long
as possible for the most vibrant color.

But the thrill of accomplishment makes it all worth it.

What a beautiful sight...a pop of color,
shining bright!

Ending with a good reminder of how
rough it is to change sometimes...

Card Shark

Spent an evening with VW playing some UNO. He is quite the card shark, very methodical and always knows his next move. So much so that he rarely loses and when he does he tells me each of his next moves he had laid out in his head.

He is so focused on writing down the score; once again he is the winner. He came home a few weeks ago and informed us that his friends no longer want to play UNO with him since he always wins. If you are up for a challenge, come on over the card fun is never ending!

I Can't See My Hair

You know that you have over extended the length of time between your sons haircuts when they begin to complain that they can see it! Yikes, Mom! Time to get these two boys in for some trimming!!

Thankfully we were able to get in with Ms. Tara, what a treat to head to a 'fancy' salon!

VW loved that she put gel like Daddy in his hair.

DG refused the gel, but thought the blow dryer was fun and that Ms. Tara claimed she had animals in her hair to keep him distracted.

It was officially a success, when VW excitedly exclaimed this morning at breakfast, "I can't see my hair anymore!"

Another Great Day

March 13 - VW is trying very hard to reform his nap time ways. He painted an awesome paper plate. Wait until you see the fish!

March 17 - The leprechauns caused a big ruckus today, while were out of the room, they trashed the place. They also left candy, coins, and tattoos. VW had a good day!

March 18 - We counted marbles today and VW was bored by 105. Others kept going. He had a fun day!

March 19 - VW had a good day. We did all the listed activities (played in centers, made a God provides picture, exercised, did journal work, and Happy Feet) and he was first one done in them all.

March 20 - VW had a fun day. The Story Teller told 2 awesome stories. Plus, VW made a rainbow for our door. We had an easier day today.

March 21 - Please have VW bring "Planes" back next week. We didn't get to watch it today! His baseball mitt was an awesome spring show-n-tell!

March 25 - VW and I were butting heads today. He seems to forget who the teacher is and ignores my words at his convenience.

March 26  - VW had a good day. We were busy with class work and a project. His center play was after breakfast since he went to Happy Feet. Had a great afternoon!

March 27 - VW had a great day! He was helpful and listened.

March 28 - VWs show-n-tell book was fun to read! Making the animal sounds kept the class laughing!

March 29 - VW had a VW day, lots of talking, noises, and boy action. We practiced origin letters and drew pictures of our Bible story in our journal.

March 31 - VW is so excited about baseball. Everyone who is anyone knows about it. He enjoyed being out on the playground and did his workbook nicely.

April 1 - VW had a good day. He told me details of his baseball game. Plus, we did a lot of writing, drawing, and singing practice.

April 2 - VW was quite vocal but did his work and used his "microphone" loud and clear. He was given a stamp on his hand in Happy Feet.

April 3 - VWs ears were turned off part of the day, depending on his agenda. We struggled through program practice, but VWs enthusiasm was appreciated.

April 4 - VW had a fun day. His bargaining skills were used frequently today. It was hard to say "no" but I did (sigh).

April 7 - VW had an emotional side and a goofing off side today. He missed Mommy and was excited about baseball. Program practice was tolerated. Not much more. His workbook is ok! No interest there either. He's being quiet for nap!

April 8 - VW aka "Ninja" had a fun day! He did projects, took a walk, went to the bathroom often sometimes showing Ninja skills, sometimes not!

April 9 - VW had one of many impressive hairstyles today. It helped the day pass hearing giggles and comments about the silly do's. VW had a fun VW kind of day!

April 10 - VW enjoyed the extra time we spent outside this morning. He had an overact mouth today! Oops! Time-out!
